COVID-19 Testing For Your Athletic Programs

The global pandemic sparked by the COVID-19 virus was something that completely changed everyone’s daily lives. Businesses closed, social gatherings came to a halt, and activities that once determined our daily and weekly schedules, like school sports, were put on hold.

Now, the children in our communities can begin doing what they love again. However, even though there is a vaccine available, it’s still crucial to keep the health and safety of kids top of mind. That’s why we at Covid Clinic provide COVID-19 testing for athletic programs to allow children to play their favorite sports once again in the safest way possible. COVID-19 Tests We Offer To Athletes and Athletic Staff

The vaccine that’s now available is helping communities and the entire world return back to normal, even if the new normal is a bit different than before. While it’s becoming more accessible, there are still a large number of people that have not received the vaccine yet, meaning we all still need to be taking precautions accordingly.

The best way we can continue to protect ourselves and our family while returning back to the normal activities we were used to before COVID-19 is continuous testing. At Covid Clinic, we have received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for our COVID-19 tests from the FDA. Here is a brief overview of the different tests we offer:

Ways To Minimize Your Impact From COVID-19

With life slowly returning back to normal, we are certain your children and the athletic staff are eager to get back to it. However, you want to return with caution and be sure that you’re taking the right steps to ramp up your athletic department once again to ensure you will have a full and successful season without COVID-19 taking over your team.

Now that you know the different COVID-19 tests we offer and why it’s important to continuously have your athletes and athletic staff tested, let’s dive into ways that you can minimize the impact of COVID-19 on your athletic programs.

  • Initiate or increase testing for athletes at your schools. This will provide everyone access to effective and safe COVID-19 tests to prevent the spread of the virus.
  • Provide regularly scheduled testing to your athletes and staff. Make it a part of your daily routine with your athletes, just like stretching or cleaning up equipment.
  • Don’t allow athletes to play, or coaches to attend games, that have had close contact with someone that’s tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. In doing so, you will prevent the spread and decrease the risk of other members of the team becoming ill.
  • Conduct optional rapid result testing on- or off-site, even on game days. Covid Clinic has rapid testing available to provide results within one hour!
  • Take athletes’ temperatures upon arrival to participate in a sporting event. One of the main symptoms of COVID-19 is a fever.
  • If an athlete or family member has symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19, even without symptoms, they should not go to practice or games until their doctor says it is safe to return. Taking these precautions will go a long way in ensuring the health and safety of all participants.
  • Have athletes bring their own equipment, including face masks, water bottles, hand sanitizer, and towels. This will help prevent the transfer of germs and viruses.
  • Encourage players to wash their hands well and often. Athletes and staff should wash their hands before going to practice and after touching shared equipment.
  • Enforce that coaches, referees, umpires, parents, and spectators wear masks or face coverings at all times. It’s a very simple step to protecting an entire community.
  • Shared surfaces and equipment should be cleaned and disinfected frequently. Things that get touched a lot, such as benches, faucets, and doorknobs, should be cleaned as often as possible, and equipment should be cleaned between each use.

At Covid Clinic, our priority is keeping communities as safe as possible. The biggest step you can take to help in this effort is to continue to get tested, wear a mask, and stay home if you feel ill or have been exposed to someone that has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
